Meet The Team.
Mally The Mali
25.03.17 - 06.05.23
First, there's Mally, a Belgian Malinois whose journey from France to the UK marked the beginning of an extraordinary partnership. For five years, she stood as a loyal companion, working tirelessly by my side and always having my back.
Mally's passing in 2023 left a void that's felt every day, but her legacy lives on as the inspiration behind The Hund Academy. Her unwavering support highlighted the challenges of balancing work and dog ownership, sparking the inception of our academy aimed at helping others navigate this delicate balance.
Rosie The Rottie.
Meet Rosie, our delightful new recruit! At just two years old, this Rottweiler hails from the UK, just like her owner. Rosie's charming personality shines through as she displays a friendly disposition towards other dogs and adores spending time with people. Her absolute favorite pastimes include indulging in long naps and reveling in cuddle sessions. With her affectionate nature and irresistible charm, Rosie has quickly become a beloved member of our team.
If you're seeking a companion for your dog, Rosie is an ideal match. With her remarkable adaptability, she seamlessly adjusts to any situation.
Carter Egan - Founder of The Hund Academy.
Dogs have been part of my life since childhood, from growing up with St. Bernards, German Shepherds & Labradors, to my own Malinois and now a Rottweiler. I’m passionate about providing affordable, loving care for all dogs. My goal is to create a center where dogs can spend their days happily and give dogs in need a second chance at a loving home through real-life training. Every dog deserves love, care, and the chance to thrive.
My Journey
My journey began in a busy shelter and boarding facility, working closely with dogs listed under the UK's Dangerous Dogs Act, including Pit Bull Terriers, Japanese Tosas, Dogo Argentinos, and Fila Brasileiros. This high-pressure environment challenged me and gave me a deep, hands-on understanding of canine behavior and welfare.
I then spent five years as a Close Protection Operative (CPO) and Private Security Dog Handler, specializing in: Search & Find, Human Tracking, Protection Work, These roles sharpened my instincts, patience, and respect for the intelligence and loyalty of working dogs.
Why I Started The Hund Academy
I founded The Hund Academy in memory of my beloved dog, Mally. When I relocated to Switzerland, a demanding role kept me away from home most of the day. After five years of being together 24/7, the sudden distance was tough not just for me, but for Mally.
When she passed away, the hardest part was knowing she spent much of her final months alone. That realization stayed with me and gave me a new purpose: to make sure no dog ever feels forgotten or lonely during the day.
